Spearfishing Luderick

The swell had dropped and judging from the coastal watch web site it looked like it was going to be a perfect day for a dive.

Met up with a mate and although we got smashed by a few the sets coming on the rocks, once we were in the water its was great, the vision was 10-15 meters and  water temp was around 22OC, it was perfect!
now the fish!

As usual there was no shortage of rock cale (homeless mans lobster) there actually not that bad to eat but im trying to move up in the spearfishing world and im not shooting them for anything more that burly, a few other locals around, bream, morwong, grouper(we cant shoot them though), and a couple unidentified fish were around too.

What was surprising was how many luderick were around, at my other local i seem to need a bit more luck getting close to them but today i knew it would be different. We went further away from the beach and saw a huge school of around 100, I shot 1 as they were coming past and after not finding any of the biguns amongst the bate fish we headed back to snipe a few more on the way in, my shots were getting better from the middle broadside shots to almost head shots (better for filleting) :)

Although i didn't get a see any Kings, I had fun day none the less,
who says you have to go out bush to hunt? :)
just cant keep away from that saltwater :D it will be a test when dreading  colds of winter though :(
