hello :D  every one this is my first post on this forum also my first knife  got to say after making this little dude i have more respect for you guys that make these all the time it was a fun project but soon found the skill for this  is not something to take for granted or easiley learned my hat is off to all of you i cant imagine makeing anything like some of the pic i have seen on this forum.the knife  i made it is made from a damascus blank 200 layers of birds eye 1095 h/c the grip is walnut with german silver bolster  thanks for giving me the want-to for this project---tom

For a first knife, that's pretty good work. :grin:   Can't see too much detail, since when I go to enlarge the pic it's pretty fuzzy, but can't see anything glaring wrong with it.  I'll be honest and say I'm not really fond of the decorative jimping on the spine, but then Ï'm not fond of decorative jimping period. On any using knife.  What's the next one gonna be? :wink:

dont really know yet been reading my books and watching this forum real close also takeing some classes at a local trade school have a real good instructor he does some beautiful work with his blades i recentley retired so i got to pick up a hobby  i love doing this but man there is so much to learn and at my age  the attention span  is back where it was when i first started grade school funny ,i have gone full circle---tom

Nice work, how did you heat treat it?

There's a real good maker by the name of Don Hanson that hail's from Success, Missouri.  He's a real nice guy, maybe he would let you tour his shop.

thanks for the comments, the process we used to heat treat was raise the temp in the whole blade to about 1600degrees then quench only the edge in canola oil this left the rest of the blade somewhat  soft and with flex after it cooled i re-heated it in an oven to 350-450 degrees for two hours this i done twice to temper the edge seems to be working pretty well im sure there is better ways to do this but i got to learn and doing is the best way -------------- :D
