My gun loves Win White Box. I have tons of brass and all reloading supplies, so I want to load my own. Have any of you ever recreated Win White Box?

If you decide to handload for your 223, forget about trying to figure out what was in a factory round and then trying to duplicate it. Get yourself a couple of manuals and study them. Pick out a few different powders, bullets and primers and start working on your own loads for your own rifle. If your rifle can shoot the cheap sit well just think what it can do with your own personal loads developed specifically for your rifle. Besides, the powder used in factory ammo is usually not available to the handloading public.

looks like the white box is a 45 grain crimped hollowpoint, on top of a full case of ball powder. it's the same as the bulk "military" powder they sell in some magazines, 8 pounds for however much.

i have been sorta looking into this too...my gun shoots white box pretty good too but i have found a handload that works just as well...

50 grain VMAX, Remington small rifle benchrest primer, winchester brass (leftover from white box) and 26.0 grains of Varget.

works great.

You would have great difficulty locating the same bullet as Winchester does not offer it as a component. With that thought why not find something you can load up and go for it. There are plenty of handloads that will shoot better than the 'white box' .

yeah. i agree. i was just stating that i had looked into it briefly. i shoot a 50 grain VMAX over 26.0 grains of varget now and it is just as accurate and with a better bullet.
