This one was available from H&R for $35 shipped last year, dunno if they have any left, tho. It comes with a plastic barrel band and swivel stud.

Tim,

How long is that barrel, or how long is that Mannlicher forestock and what barrel are they milled out for? I wish they would make a synthetic or cinnamon laminate so I could modify it for the Huntsman ramrod.

It's a 22" .45-70, it fits like it was made for that contour.

Quick, I enlarged the pic but can't see where the plastic bbl. band is. Is that it just aft of the front sight blade?

Hammerspur,

Quick said it came with the barrel band, but he must not have used it on his rig. At least it's not in the picture. It's probably just for looks anyways, since he said it is made out of plastic and the forend screw is what actually holds the forend in place.

Busta is right on, I don't use the barrel band, I have a pressure point on the barrel just behind the front sight, the barrel band didn't help accuracy, so I don't use it.

This is what it looks like if you use the barrel band. I've used these forestocks on a 357, 30-30s and 30-40 Krags, never effected accuracy. I think the barrel band gives the rifle a "classic" look, especially when combined with a receiver sight.

I just bought one and it didn't come with a barrel band.  Unless I missed it and threw it out with the bubble wrap?  Oops!!!
