I've had a Daisy BB gun of one kind or another since I was 6 or 7 (1949 or '50). Got a used, pawnshop special, bolt-action single-shot .22 when I was 8, and a similar-vintage single 16 when I was 10. Started shooting my dad's H&R .22 revolver when I was about 10, and carrying it by preference when I was 12 or 13; still have it and love to use it on pests.
Started buying and/or Bubbafying my own when I was in my early teens. Got my first 1911 at 15, a WWI rustbucket from a hardware store, and have been in love with them ever since. I have (without opening the safe to count) about 6 .22 rifles of various ages and manufacturers, and a .22 conversion kit for my carry Commander. I use the .22s a lot more often than all other calibers combined, and keep a pellet rifle above the workbench in the garage. They're all still fun, even at 68.
