« on: September 26, 2005, 09:11:29 PM »
I'm looking to get a round nose flat point 357-358 6 cavity bullet mold.  Any body know where I can get a snake bite bullet mould?

Thanks,

Will

Dick Dastardly (aka Dick Rhody) has the Snakebite Greasewagon.

rrhody@spwl.net
(608) 837-8282

According to his newletter, he's got them in stock now for $77 plus S&H.

I'm glad it's working out for you.  I just cast several pounds of Mav Dutchman bullets last night (.431" big lube bullet design, same 6 cavity Lee mould).

That a 44 colt size bullet?  Been thinking of getting a new toy, a 44 72' open top.

You can use it for the .44 Colt.  .44 Russian brass should also fit in those .44 Colt chambers.  The Mav Dutchman is a little lighter, as cast, then the original bullets for the Russian and Colt rounds.  At 195 grains, with my current alloy, it's closer to the .44 WCF bullet weight.  I haven't weighed how much lube they carry, maybe enough to bring it up to the 246 grain weight of the original .44 Russian bullets. :)

There are some nice Open Tops on gunbroker.com right now.

These designs are coming soon:

DD (Dick Dastardly) .32 90 grain for H&R .32 mag, 32-20, etc.
DD 38-55 300 grain RNFP
DD 500 grain (version II) .45-70

In stock now:

Snakebite Greasewagon 158 grain bullet, about .358"
DD .38-40 190 grain bullet
Mav Dutchman 44 caliber 200 grain bullet (drops out of most moulds at .431")
J/P 45 caliber 200 grain for light loads in the .45 Colt, Schofield, etc.
Pigeon Roost Slim 45 caliber 250 grain
DD/PRS 400 grain RNFP for .45-70
DD/ROA 210 big lube bullets for Ruger Old Army and other cap & ball

You can also get lube, mould handles, ceramic cleaning media & solution, bullet samplers, cap and ball bullet vials, and the Big Lube newsletter at DD's site.  I should probably look up the link to his actual  product listing, so folks can see that, too.

Will52100,

A propos of nearly nothin', my favorite boolit is the Snakebite Greasewagon and here's some pitchers of it being cast in a hurry:

http://goatlipstips.cas-town.com/casting.html

In a .38 case it looks like a .357 to a Marlin, and feeds just like one.  Holds enough Blackpowder lube to make it out the bar'l.
