Welcome con10der309!

You see, when you bought the first Handi you contacted Handi-itis.  You had to get another. There will be more.

I would have bought the .280 for that price.

As you noted, the .280 is a fine cartridge, often overlooked.  I have one with the green laminated wood with the medallion.  The medallion just says New England Firearms.  Incidently, I bought it from Juniata Trading just west of Breezewood. They stock 20-30 Handi's at any given time.  Most have the green laminated wood with the medallion.

Should you ever want to sell it, I would be interested.

If you don't mind, could you tell me where you bought it at?

Congrats!

EVOC ONE,

A green laminate stock???  Are you talking camo laminate, or an actual green that I have never seen?  If it is a green, please post a pic of one!

Thanks,

Jim

DakotaElkSlayer:  Its the Camo laminated stock.  My wife has re-named it "the ugly green one" and the name stuck.  Sorry.

That's the same stock that's on my .280...  The longer you have it, the "cooler" it looks.  After nearly six years, it is almost pretty!

Anyone know what wholesaler gets these stocks?  Now living in ND, I never see 'em anymore; they were common when I lived in MI.

Jim,
The .280 is a great caliber. I can easily shoot 1 1/4" groups with mine using cheap 140 gr. Remington Core-lokts which is more than sufficient for my needs.  If you are a reloader or plan to start reloading there is a huge selection of bullets available and can load to near 7mm Mag. performance without trouble.  Oh, and $260 out the door for a NITB Handi with a laminate stock is a good deal.

P.S.; Your posts will be easier for us to read if you turn off your "caps lock"

EVOC ONE,

I live a half hour away from Juniata.  I bought a used 280 down there about 3 months ago for 160.00. They have some of the best gun prices that I know of.

Hello Superjay!

I agree, Juniata Trading usually has decent prices.  The sur-charges (3% for charge card, $5 background check fee) can raise the prices a bit.  But the selection and availability are second to none.

By buddy got an awesome price on a use Ultra .223.   I think it was $179.

We usually get there when we do our "west run".  Which includes Hancock, Cumberland-LaVale, Rockwood, Somerset and Bedford.

Whats better than a Saturday drive through the mountains and stopping at gunshops.  Forgot to include a steak at Hoss's. Woo Hoo!

Regards,

EVOC ONE
