G27 or G30 for daily carry?
« on: March 03, 2006, 02:51:42 PM »
Thinking of making a purchase I have narrowed it down to these two. For those carrying these. what are likes as well as dislikes, and could you reccomend a carry holster. I am leaning towards the 30 as I have always been a 45acp. fan , However it is larger than the 40 could be harder to cover up. Thanks for the in-put   Bob :?

G27 or G30 for daily carry?

bflynn, I have and carry a G27. I already had a G22 so I went with the G27. It is a little thinner then the G30 but not that much. My friend has a G29 which is the same size as the G30 and It's doesn't seem to much bigger. If you like the 45 ACP go check out the G30.

I usually carry my G27 in a "inside the pants" holster. The one that I like the most is nylon holster made by deSantis.

The Glock 30--OR the much thinner Glock 36.

:cb2: Been carrying around a G21 since '93 without any problem. Don't see how either of those little bitty .45s would be any trouble at all.

I own a 27 and love it.  If I owned the 30, I'd no doubt love it, too!  I'm not sure that you can go wrong with either.  Keep us informed, and good luck!

I am 6'3" and 195 lbs.  I carry a 29 and it is fine.  I'd go 30.  The 27 is fine, I used to own one but I like the 29 or 30 better.

The G27 seems much smaller to me. I use a cheap Uncle Mikes IWB for my G27 and love it.  I also have a G30.  What ever you like get.

I've shot the G27 and I like it...I will be buying one for my backup piece.  The department issued me a Glock 22 for duty carry.  I will most likely wear the 27 on my ankle.  If we were issued the 21's for duty carry then I would opt for the 30 as my backup...The 45 ACP round intrigues me...Go for the 30.

I carry a G30 in a Milt Sparks G30 IWB holster.  The holster is a burgundy color and is made to be an exact fit for the G30, which it is.  It fits the weapon perfectly.  It's light, fits tightly to the weapon for secure carry and is comfortable for all day carry.

However, I must admit a bias against the .40 caliber.  Why carry a .40 when I can carry a .45?  I was a fan of the .45 acp before the .40 existed.

I'm 5'10", and 190lbs. I love my G27! I too thought about the G30, and if I were a bigger man I might carry one. But, I find the 27 so easy to conceal IWB.

With 9+1 of 165gr Golden Sabers @ 485ft lbs. if muzzle energy I feel very safe.

You didn't ask about this model but, you might consider it. I carried 2 Glock 23s and if I were to go back to a Glock I would buy another. I carried a 1911 until a new Chief took over and put a new policey in place.  What I found was the Glock 23 is probably one of the finest duty pistols I have ever carried and I have carried almost all of them from Colt, to Smith, to Springfield and everthing in between. It's more compact than the larger pistols but, shoots like a larger gun. It's forty calibur and has a hexagonal bore. Check it out.

One other factor, the G30 is much closer in size to a G23 then it is to a G27.  I carry a 29 daily and have no problems.  I Have shot the G30 and love it to.  I just perfer the extra umph to the 10mm.

And I'll agree the 19/23 size it just about perfect and is my preference for a duty pistol.

I really love the 27 for concealed carry. Just the right size with all the firepower you will need.
