Missed Brown truck

Well I missed the brown truck yesterday.  My new 357mag barrel and 12 ga deluxe vented rib are coming home.  Just in time for turkey hunting

I bet you won't miss it today.  UPS lady just leaves my stuff in my porch if I am not there.

John, they're supposed to get an adult signature on firearms, even if you have a signature waiver, they won't leave em for me, I asked!!

Anyone expecting a rifle back from H&R can call or email them and get the tracking number so you know what day it will be delivered and plan accordingly.

I guess it depends on your driver. I've had at least 4 deliveries from UPS sent "Adult Signature Required" that were left on my front doorstep with no one home (3 of those were blackpowder rifles). I felt no need to complain of course, since they did not disappear   before I got home from work.

My wife laughs because I am like Pavlov's dog when I hear that peculiar transmission/engine sound of the UPS trucks.  I can hear that truck blocks away.  A life of mailorder I guess.

Me too, I notice when the truck goes by just about every day, its distinctive sound just rings bells!!  I used to have the same delivery gal regularly, a cute little blonde that seemed curious about guns I received from H&R, but lately I rarely have the same driver. Besides gun related stuff, I get a lot of deliveries of computer parts, so I'm a real regular UPS customer.

I call him the "Brown Santa Claus". My wife said she is going to pay him not to stop! It's my favorate truck, ammo, scopes, stocks and hunting cloths. Just like Christmas every time he stops. What would we do with out the brown truck?

Well I caught the brown truck new 357 and 12 ga.  12 ga barrel fit perfect on a sb 1 frame I had with 410 on it all looks good.  The fore arm does not fit on the sb2 frame I sent in but I wont be using that for the shot gun barrel anyway.  I need to put a different stock on the sb2 frame too shoot iron sights with 357.

Odinbreaker,

Glad to hear you got your new toys.

Last year before my elk hunt to Colorado I ordered a spare ramrod, Williams Fire Sights and WGRS Peep Sight from H&R. My UPS driver could not even leave those items without and adult signature.  I called and the delivery time at my home always misses me by about an hour. I could hassle the neighbors 1/4 mile away, but don't like to bother someone for something like that. I called UPS, they had the driver call me the next day and I met him in a little town about 5 miles away and got my goodies. I can totally understand them not leaving a firearm without an adult signature. Can you imagine at some point, some kid or felon must have opened/stolen a firearm and something bad must have happened?

If you are ordering form H&R/NEF, they will ship UPS. If it is not a firearm and only accessories I think you can request they send those items USPS. My mailman can deliver while someone is home and if we miss them the package can be picked up at the local Post Office the next day instead of driving 50-60 miles to the UPS Distribution Center. That is the price I am willing to pay for living in the sticks.

Busta, UPS offers a signature waiver on non-firearm deliveries, I use it all the time cuz I don't like to be stuck at home since the UPS truck gets here anytime between noon and 7pm, most often between 2-5pm!!

I have a sign on my garage door for the delivery people to please leave all deliveries on my step just inside the garage.  This lets them off the hook.  Although just as Tim says for all firearm deliveries a signature is required.

The USPS folks as well as the UPS, FedEx folks and others have all told me the same thing.  If they have never had an issue with you they don't mind.  If anything ever goes awry that's it.  They'll never leave anything without a signature again period.  You must have a perfect record.

Tim,

They would not let me use the waiver, I (or someone 21 or over) had to sign in front of them. They said the shipper (H&R/NEF) required it. I'm sure that is their policy for all firearms, but it carried over to my package as well. I even called H&R/NEF to see if they could help me, but they could not since it was already shipped. If I remember correctly, they said I could request it sent USPS next time.

I just had another (non firearms related) package delivered by UPS today and they just left it in a plastic bag outside the door.

Yes, I know they won't waive a signature on firearms, not if they're doing their job right, anyway.

Sorry for the confusion Tim, but what I had sent from H&R/NEF was only a ramrod and some sights (non-firearm). They treated those items as if they were a firearm and clearly they are not. I was just wondering if everthing shipped UPS from H&R/NEF is treated that way? Hope that clarifies my posting.

I betcha they did that as a standard practice without thinking about it, although when I received my replacement BC stock and my mannlicher forend, they didn't require a signature either time. So they do use standard ground w/o signature at least sometimes.

Well I wonder why she leaves my stuff here then?  (my business is here to), I get lots of UPS stuff for my business, but most times I am on the road doing service calls and often times  no one is here to sign for anything. She never asked me to so I don't.  I bought a 20 gauge barrel the other day shipped USPS, I came home it was sticking half way out of my mail box .

I can see parts not needing a signature though.

I ordered a performance chip for my hot rod a while back and they would not leave it with out a signature because it was over $300.  So I had to drive to the UPS distribution center to pick it up.  I just bought an Aqua View and was a little worried about them not leaving it so I had it sent to my 94 year old neighbors house, took me just as long to explain to her what it was and why I needed it. :)

So I don't know if the company sets that rule or UPS but maybe that is why some things get left and others don't.
