Colt 22 Semi Pistols (aka Cadet models - Need owner feedback

I'm looking at a pre-owned NIB Colt 22 Semi Pistol at a local gun shop, but having difficulty finding first-hand experience with these pistols.  Can anyone shed some light on these Colt regadring accuracy, reliability, durability, etc?  The only thing this pistol is missing is the owner registration card.  He's asking $265 for the pistol.  Sound fair?  With the abundance of Buckmark, Ruger, and 22A's available, is it worth going with the Colt.  Mainly a plinking pistol which will eventually be handed down to one of my sons.

I know of NO ONE who would have one of those. Sorry-- I have a couple older ones (Colt) I would be glad to discuss with you through e-mail, and a Browning Challenger (older MDL- made in Belgium)- w/holster. If there is an interest, just drop me a line.

I have one that's about 15 years old & I like it. It's as accurate as any of my .22's.
It rarely jams & has a decent trigger.
The non-adjustable rear sight meant I had to shim the front sight to get the POI right. It is adjustable for windage. They also made a target version w/ a 6" barrel & adjustable sight. I eventually put a red dot sight on it.
I like the way it balances & feels.
It comes apart easily for cleaning w/ an allen wrench(supplied) & came w/ 2 nice S.S. 10 shot mags.
I can't remember the price I payed.
It's one of my favorites.

I bought one new 12 years ago. I paid $226 for it.  I bought it because I liked the balance and I wanted a stainless 22 pistol for cheap.  I have never regretted the purchase.  It is accurate, easy to clean, has a decent trigger, and I love the way it fits my hand.  The only people who I have run across that malign this pistol are ruger aficianado who decry it's lack of upgradeable parts and the fact that it is not a ruger.  Most people have never really shot one.  It won't shoot remington thunderbolts.  I just got two additional magazines online.  I wouldn't sell mine for twice what I paid.

I have just found this post, so my reply won't help your decision anymore, but I'm pleased to find some enthusiastic owners.

Am I correct, the Cadet is the stainless with the polymer frame? Mine does not have the word "Cadet" on it anywhere. It just says ".22 Colt".

Mine is reliable. Accurate enough if I do my bit, but we have so little different ammo brands here to try. About 1.5" at 25 yrds if I do my bit.

I could shoot it better if I had straightened out the rear sight notch which is a bit lopsided (I've got the short barelled fixed sight model bought new around 1995).

I find the grip nice, but the trigger a bit far back for my (medium sized) hands, but that's my only complaint.

I've probably not shot more that 1,000 rounds through mine.

Ed, did you use the factory mount set-up, or an aftermarket and if so, which one. I posted elsewhere about a mount, because Weigand no longer make theirs, and all that popped up was quite pricey (around $70).

Sorry Ed1921! I've dredged around for a Weigand but no luck, so it looks like the B-Square may be the only way.
