If you had a choice which one and why ?

The Prostaff isn't a bad scope, but you're comparing apples and oranges, the Prostaff is an entry level scope more comparable to the Sightron S1, the S2 is a much nicer scope, more money too! If I had to choose between the S1 and the Prostaff, I'd opt for the Prostaff, I have one of each, the Prostaff is the better scope of the two.

the pro-staff 3-9x40 is the best scope in my collection(says alot about my budget) got a 10% discount when Gander Mt. was relocating. fine scope, simply supurb(bear in mind my spending limits again), i was stupid and broke the seal and the scope leaked and fogged but Nikon fixed it free.

Sightron SII. In my opinion the Prostaff isn't in the same class. SII is more comparable to the Nikon Monarch.

Ok what about the sightron 2 verses the Leupold Rifleman or vxi ?

thats better, compare store prices to find models that you can compare/contrast. either way Leupold, Nikon, Sightron i doubt you'd be disappointed, but again proud nikon owner right here. Nikon Buckmasters and Leupold Rifleman/VX-1 are good "equal" C/C candidates i think.

Still apples to oranges. The SII is about halfway between the VX2 and the VX3 line of scopes. Its certainly better IMO than the VX2, but not quite up to par with the VX3 line of scopes.

I totally agree.

I would get the Sightron 2 over the prostaff, but I would get a buckmaster over the sightron 2.

Country Boy, FWIW, I have a Nikon Prostaff, SII, Zeiss Conquest, and a Khales. I can only tell that, from these forty year old eyes, the Sightron SII is the best 200.00 dollaes plus tax that you will spend, give or take tax shipping, etc. Good luck and good hunting.
