7600 accurracy and slings
« on: December 28, 2005, 03:09:23 AM »
I have a 7600 ,rechambered to 358 win., and have been using a standerd 760 type sling stud in the forearm. It seems a barrel band type sling is all I can find listed for a 7600. My question is how much will the barrel band effect accurracy. Also has anyone had any problems useing the forearm type sling on these rifle.

I have a Remington 760 carbine, in 30-06, 1980 vintage, sighted it in in 1980. Put a barrel band on it in 1982, never had a problem or affect on the accuracy, or the point of impact for me.
Sincerely,

Garry, I appreciate the input , I guess I just dont like the idea of putting a band on a floated barrel. But I'm afraid to keep using the forearm swivel it seems to be making the forearm  have some flope in it. I know the barrel band is the only type of sling attachment anyone shows for the 7600. Guess i'll try one and see.

Two 7600 Rifles 30/06 (circa 1988) & a 35 Whelen (circa 1992); both with barrel band sling hookups. Have hunted in the wet & slop of the Pacific Northwest with both; neither has any accuracy problems. These guns are as accurate as any bolt gun out there. Bottom line: the barrel band hookup has ZERO EFFECT on accruacy in these rifles.

Doetag - I have two 7600's, one in a .35 Whelen with a worked over trigger and another in a .308 Win. I agree with Dawei and Wink man that they are as accurate as any factory bolt out there and the sling swivel on the barrel has "zero" effect on impact or accuracy. The only gripe I have in their design is a forearm that is noisy unless you put a large "rubber band" around it. Riley
