Hey guys i was cleaning my handis today ,and i put my new barrels on my 20 gauge frame they fit perfect. Then i started thinking my 357and 44 barrels might be ok if i shoot 38 and 44 special loads, both are 13-14 k cup about the same as the shotgun loads.Do you think this is acceptable pressure for the frame,as long as i dont use magnum loads? :?

I personally think I would do it without worry but cannot suggest you do it. I do believe many here have done the same thing....<><.... :grin:

FYI I have shot 38spl in an older (1969) Topper frame w/357 mag barrel. Fun, accurate and no recoil.

I had perforated primers on my Topper frame with the .357 Max, the firing pin is larger and the hole surrounding the pin in the frame is bigger than on a rifle frame. It could have just been the Max primers being thinner, too. Just something to watch for.  :wink:

FYI - My 357 max barrel does not fit well on the Topper frame, so I've never shot it that way.

Yeah, I believe the Topper has a shotgun type firing pin which is larger, and the hole around it as well. I have shot some 357 mags on the Topper frame, and some shooting with factory rounds in a 30/30 barrel that fits it as well, but didn't notice any primer probs with either caliber... mostly though I just shot the 38s in it.

When I shoot 357 mag or max I use the 357 Max frame and barrel.
