Here's what I found by a google search

"AMT is out of business. The company that bought them (Galena Industries) is out of business."

Good News!!!!!!

AMT's are being made again by High Standard (yes the same company with the great target 22's).  I do not know if they are actually in production yet, but they are on the 2006 price list.  I own and carry AMT Backups in 40 S&W, 45ACP, 9MM, and 357SIG, so I am glad those are back in production as well.  The only thing wrong with the old AMT's was their quality control; the designs were good.  It looks like High Standard has raised the price significantly, and my guess is that there will also be a great increase in quality.  The new prices are still very competitive, so I suspect they will do well if the quality under the new company is commensurate with the new price.

I hope they change the grip design on some of the models. My father has the Automag III, 30 carbine. The thing is impossible to hold comfortably, even with medium size hands, the grip is to short.
I just might have to look into a 22 mag when they become available.

the automags are very good handguns. every one i have used has had a great trigger right out of the box. only "problem" i have found is that you have to keep the rails lubed more than any other gun i have found. if you don't they will gall. maybe high standard will have learned and use different alloys in the frame and slide.
as long as you keep them lubed they are about as sweet shooting pistol as you will ever find.
put em where you want em

I have an AMIV, I like it and hate it. The grip is as already stated WAY too short. Recoil even with full house .45 WM loads is managable, though noticable. I also have a very annoying habit of locking the slide back having to hold so high on it.

I do hope that Hi-Standard makes the 10mm Mag and 400 barrels for it as well.
