Are these guns generally available new? About how much do they cost? Are they easy to order?

Norinco 1911's are no longer imported into the US.  They are blocked by some trade regualation.   They are imported and sold in Canada, but I don't know how or if you could get one into the US.  Used ones show up pretty regularly on the auction sites.

Thanks. Do you know of a good quality 1911 that can serve as a basis for a hardball gun? I'm replacing some parts and don't want to start with an expensive pistol.

Probably a Springfield GI,  but I have seen some real crummy Springfields lately.   I did a quick scan of GunsAmerica, and there are three Norinco 1911s each priced a little over $400.

I don't have any personal experiance with Norincos, but I have seen some good things posted about them....as a basic 1911 that is.

I have seen Rock Island 1911s (Not to be confused with Rock River) for under $300, but I have never heard anything good about them.  Haven't heard anything bad about them either.  Maybe the low price is scaring people away.
