Federal hull ID
« on: March 13, 2006, 09:49:53 AM »
I have a ton of dark-red low brass Federal hulls.  They came from fairly inexpensive factory trap or light game loads.  I was wondering if anyone knew offhand exactly which hull this would be so I use the right recipes?

They sound like the Federal Top Gun hull. They have a seperate fibre basewad, unlike the Federal Gold medal hull, which is a one piece. Load data for the Gold Medal can be used in the Top Gun hull. You won't want to reload these to many times as there is rumour the basewad can eventually be shot out. They are also bad if they get wet after being shot. If you found them after a bad rain, I would leave them to dry for quite a while before reloading them.

If you were lucky enough to have found some Gold Medals, load to your hearts content, they are a premium reloadable hull. :-)
