Any of you guys have eperience with this caliber, I thinking about purchasing a .22 hornet barrel or another .223 barrel to rechamber to 219 dw. I think it would be kind of neat. Is this a reasonable rechamber or would I just be wasting my time. Thanks for any knowledge or comments

Thanks stimplylu32 for finding those post. Looks like I need a hornet barrel but nef has never offered that barrel in a bull without rifle sights has it.

According to Shaner you can get or could get a bull barrel in 22 hornet w/o sites from H&R , his post is the 5 th. down in this link .

Good choice! I reamed one of my 22 hornets out to .225Win last year. And have my 220 swift reamer sitting infront of me waiting to hog out my 24" .223 in a few weeks.

I think a 219DW from a hornet would be a nice rifle to have.

I think Marv had one made up a year or so ago. I haven't heard much about it since then, but maybe he'll see this thread and reply.

Yes I had or did a 219 Zipper from a 22 Hornett barrel, Had a bit of
case sticking until I start useing 25-35 brass to make 219zip,
Sure did help sticking problems. Reason I went with the Zipper over
DW is I got 219 dies years ago, never used them.
Never have got a good load worked out, The best so for is 27.5 Grains
of IMR 4895, 52 HPBT sierra bullet. Us4e that last june at GBO
Pdog shoot, Did fair, Trigger pull was over 4 lbs.

You could also re-chamber a 22 mag bull barrel, they are .224 bore. Larry

What I might do if I should do again is, recamber to 22-30 30!
Be less problems on brass,and you could use a bull barrel 223.
any set of dies are going to expensive. just my 2 cents Marv

If I were to use a 22 mag barrel wouldn't the twist rate be a bit to low. Im not sure, that thought did cross my mind Thanks guys for the info

Yeah... 1:16" is rather slow.. you'd need to be shooting some really really lightweight bullets to get good stability.
