Yup folks Faye just gave me the report. There is a male bengal tiger on the loose in Cullman County Alabama. That's perhaps 40-50 miles away from me depending on just where in the county he is at this time. He has a tag they say so obviously got loose from someone.

Rumor is he likes blueberries so I'm expecting a visit just any time now and me with no tiger rifle on hand. Dang I just never have the rifle gun at the right time it seems. Now what kinda tiger rifle should I go buy?

Need more info.Isnt the authorities gonna try to dart him and take em alive?I believe an tiger hunt in the woods of bama calls for 2 guns.A good 7mm -300wsm or something along those lines and a 12 ga full of 00 buck.I could be able to help.

I've herd of those LSU tigers causing some trouble down that was from time to time, and actually seen em kick the crap out of our Sooners on TV a couple of years back.

They would snap the ball, and about half the OU line would be on their backside.

No doubt an Auburn tiger for sure....they get loose every once in awhile down your way......

Tiger rifle? Not sure what a tiger weighs but I'm sure Jack O'conner probably killed one with a 7X57 or .270......now, if Jack can do it.....the anybody can.....right?

Always be sure to hunt large predators with a buddy you know can't run as fast as you can.

I agree that you should do everything possible to keep from killing this tiger first. I don't imagine you would consider eating tiger flesh, so why kill it unless you actually have to. Hopefully, if the owner of this beast is deemed unfit to continue possessing it, some zoological facility will adopt it. Tigers are on the endangered species list. And no animal should be driven to extinction.

Frankly, I believe there should be a universal law prohibiting the private ownership of exotic wildlife, especially potentially dangerous animals. I think people can find less harmful methods to satisfy their egos.

Since you are unsure you may have to buy 2 rifles. a bolt and either a classic single shot or traditional double rifle.

I am really starting to like the double rifle idea.....what's a good double in say 577 nitro express bringing these days? Naw....to much recoil.....and the price of ammo has got to be high......Maybe a .17HMR so you don't mess up the fur? Try the 20 grain bullets for sure!

National Geographic had a feature on imported plants and animals that have changed the ecosystem. Seems the everglades might have a problem with Boa constrictors......and I suspect Graybeard might know someone with a Kudzu problem. Paranah are also said to be living in pools in the everglades as well. Is this normal migration or a huge problem?

I'm also amazed at people who keep snakes....especially the exotic, very poisonous ones.......I read an article about a new darwin award candidate who had a boa around his neck while driving down the road......

I'm all for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but big cats and other non-native animals getting loose seems to becoming more of a problem as of late.

Several years ago I did some deer hunting a few miles west of my place on the Caney River. I noticed there was an African lion in a rather small cage behind a house a couple of miles from the place where I had my stand. That always bothered me a bit, thinking about how the damn thing might get out.

i was reading the memoirs of an englishman in india who was a plantation manager along with his brother and tiger hunter.he bought several guns while in new york and used them extensively.i was most impressed by his choice--savage model 99 in 303 savage.not exactly a power house round.but he trusted it going into thickets.i guess he was looking for a quick followup shot potential.

speaking of snakes, i saw a cobra in north carolina once. right in town. i guy walked out the door, and the damn thing rose up and spread it's hood. i about pooped. the guy never saw it, then the light turned red, and the driver of my vehicle took off. i yelled for him to stop, then he asked why and i told him. everyone in the car was laughing at me. but i swear that was a cobra. someone must have had one that got loose best as i can figure.
