Del Ramsey has created another good one... it might be a little odd looking to most of us. He is now going to offer a new 3-petal designed sabot that might provide the answer for people with the really tight bores. These are black 50/.451-.452 sabots. They are built in the line of the HPH sabots - so they are the new ploymere and can handle the "magnum loads."
I have shot these new sabots and their performance was very good. They are built for a tighter bore, I used them in my A&H, Remingtons, Green Mountain LRH barrels, and the new Omega. I shot them with Hornady's, Speers, Sierra's, and Noslers. The bullets really seat well in the sabot making alignment going down the barrel a really easy thing.
Del, indicated that they should be available in 30 days - so if you might like to get these for a session at the range give Connie a call at MMP Sabots.. They have not got an actual name for them yet so you will have to inquire about them...
http://www.mmpsabots.com/Thought i would add a target and some velocity info
Next came a velocity comparison shot on another trip. Point to remember I normally shoot HPH-24's so my bores are large enough for them to load nicely. The 3 petals loaded really easy so i was worried that i would loose a lot of velocity with blow by - really did not happen.
Shooting a 250 Grain Gold Dot:
HPH-24 - 1880fps
HPH-24 - 1877fps
HPH-24 - 1854fps
HPH-12-3P - 1857fps
HPH-12-3P - 1862fps
HPH-12-3P - 1854fps
Here is a target for thought
