I recently purchased a 45/70 Katahdin and have noticed that my extractor rattles side-to-side, even while it is chambered. I called the factory and they sent me a new extractor, but it did not solve the problem.
This is my third riffle barrel and none of the others made a sound. Has anyone else experienced this poblem?
I have spoken with one other person regarding this and they mentioned that the smaller calibers have a spring under the extractor and the larger ones do not. I'm not sure if that is the case or not.
