I planted onions, radishes, and some turnips almost 2 weeks ago. I thought I'd done really good sowing the seeds, but, as usual, the turnips and radishes are too thick, the onions aren't up yet. I'm looking forward to the summers garden. The past 2 years I've had terrible luck with tomatoes. I'm still eating butternut squash from last year. POWDERMAN.

We've not planted a veggie garden here in quite a few years. Oh we've toyed around some with onions and tomatos but not much more. When we first moved here we gardened an area of about 3000-4500 square feet for a few years. I even planted a corn field in a separate area a couple of years. But after we got the blueberry orchard going and Faye got her 932 flower gardens going we've just not had the time. OK maybe it's only 930 flower gardens.  

I've been toying with the idea tho of setting me up another garden area this year. If I can just get my round tuit, this from a fellow who's not yet started on this year's taxes as Faye keeps reminding me each day as the clock ticks down on me.  :oops:

I'm thinking I'd like about 1500 square feet but likely no more. I'd like to put in some canteloupes, watermelons, onions, and tomatos for me and perhaps squash, okra, beans, peas and such for Faye and Phil. I kinda like home made pickels but Faye sure hates it when we do them.

I never could plant small vegetable seeds good enough that I didn't have to go and thin them out after they sprouted.  I always thought it was funny that every little radish, turnip and onion seed grows no matter how lousy they were planted.

The tomatos in my area were hit by blight for two years straight and ruined most of the crop.  This year I will be seeking blight/disease resistent varieties at the local nursery instead of the cheap ones.
