Kleanbore Primers

A few months have passed since I've seen any posts regarding these Remington primers.

Just curious if anyone has tried them and what your opinion's are.

Please indicate what powder you were using and whether pellets or loose.

My Tradition pursuit pro  seems to like them.
 100 grns of ffg
 300 grn hornady xtp bullets and  Hornady high velocity Sabots.

I have used them in my .50 Encore and have way less fouling in the breech and bore with the Kleanbore's.  Now I have a problem with primer fouling getting into the firing pin area and cruding up the firing pin so it finally freezes up after twelve shots.  That happens with Triple Seven and Pyrodex pellets and T7 2Fg. :?

When the pin locks up the gun won't open so you have to take it all apart to clean.  I used Winchester W209's last time I shot the Encore and no firing pin problems with them.

So, I am just going to use them for hunting and use the Winchesters for target practice.  I hope the new Winchester Triple Seven 209's will be better in this area!!

You are definately getting a lot of blow back.  The trigger fouling is the reason the small rifle primer conversions were developed.  David White is converting YOUR breech plug for about $20.00 versus buying a new one already converted (like I did) for $60.00.  I'm going to send him my 209 for conversion so i will have a spare.  I think TC sells the replacement 209's for around $13.00, so buying one from them and sending it out for conversion is still a lot cheaper.

I may have to buy another breech plug for my new T/C Pro-hunter M/L. It has that new 90 degree breech plug. I will have to see if it can be converted to the 25ACP. I don't want to have to go back to 209 Primers.

Yes I did use open sughts but the  4 shots were with my gun in a sight vise.I wanted to see how  my new barrel would group.
  Those were at 70 yrds not 100.

Even at Epps's prices, the 25ACP conversion is worth it. The firing pin spring
is way too weak as it is, let alone allow BP sub crud to get in there and make
it less effective. It's doubtful that any 209 type primer is going to make
blow back go away. I would recommend the 25 ACP conversion any way
one can get it. It is well worth the elimination of a lot of hassle, both in the
barrel AND behind it!!

I have to agree. The 25ACP conversion is the greatest. I have one on my Omega and will never shoot another 209 of any kind in that rifle. I just bought one for an NEF Huntsman that I picked up used and will likely never use the plastic carriers in that one either if the conversion works as well as it does in the Omega. I have reports from Huntsman owners that say it is perfect. The .25 cases are a lot easier to handle also which in itself is a step up. If one sticks (which does not happen often) you can pull it out with your fingers unlike a 209 that requires a tool of some kind. Hunting the .25ACP primers are so much better I could not imagine anyone that has tried it to go back. Now I just have to decide what I am going to do with all the 209 primers I have on hand. Maybe I will have to buy some shotgun loading equipment.

I have never had a problem with the  firing pin spring in any of my six Encore frames.
