Orbea Bros. 38 Special CTG (help)
« on: April 17, 2006, 11:21:43 AM »
An old friend gave me a pistol he has had for years. He never fired it.
Barrel says 38 Special CTG.
Side says Made by Orbea Bros Spain.
Top of barrel "Best American Cartridge are those that fit best fit the CH"
Grip handle says "Made by Orbea Hnos Eibar - Spain
Bottom of grip has serial # E 423xx.

I might want to replace the grips. Any source? Which S&W is it copied from?
Previous owner felt it would not hold up to shooting so he did not. Any opinions?

Rogmat - you could probably shoot it with standard pressure 38 specials, but that would be about it.  That looks like one I once had in 32-20.  Looks like an older style Model 10 but has Colt type springworks and innards.  Not the best made revovler out there and if the timing is not good you will get a lot of spitting from the cylinder/barrel gap.  As for grips - good luck.  Maybe some old S&W Victory Model grips might fit, if the gripscrew is in the right place.  HTH.  Mikey.
