Its a "must toss" item in my book.  If you are only going to shoot it once a year.....you might be happy.  My experience was that they are flimsy and have bad glass.  Get a good cheap Bushnell Trophy for $79 for Bushnell Legend/Weaver for $120.  Of course, most will say Leupold VX-1.  How often to shoot it?  Etc.

A friend has one of the Wal Mart Savage package deals in .30-06 with the Simmons 8-point.  After three years it's still hanging in there.  He doesn't shoot all the time, but has shot a couple hundred rounds through it.

I bought one of the Master Series 8-points last year.  Upon taking it out of the box, it was blurry around the lens edge.  I returned it for a refund. I've not looked at one since.

I've had very good luck with the Banner.  I have four.  All on NEF centerfires.

I do have a Simmons ATV, Aetec and two 44 Mags.  I like each of them very much.  I recently bought a used Mod 70 .30-06 with a Simmons Deerfield (I think thats what its called).  The scope is a 3X9X32.  The rifle was priced right, so I intended to toss the scope but figured, what the heck, I might as well try it.  No problems.  It took a couple shots to get it on zero at 100yds and while I've not shot it very much, the scope is still holding.  I'll probably still replace it, but I have other projects going on at the moment, so it'll stay on the Winchester for a while.

Good luck with your choice.

Have several 8 points 3x9x40's. However they are all on 22LR rifles, and work great for that. I would opt for something else on a larger centerfire.

I bought one mail order. After taking it outside and looking through it I deciced to send it back. I never mounted it. Very poor optics. If the gun comes with it I would go ahead and use it until a better scope could be purchased, but I would be looking hard for a replacement. The Bushnell Trophy and Legend are pretty good scopes for not too much money.
