M24/47 Yugo Trigger Question

Could not find if this has come up afore but I'd like to lighten the trigger pull on my M24/47. Was wondering if

a) trigger was adjustable at all
b) if the Timney Mauser 98 trggers would fit the Yugo 24/47.

The old warhorse (rifle) shoots downright nice even with my tired old eye and the mil sights though the arthritis in my fingers prevents me from shooting her more. If I can get the trigger pull down to 3-4 lbs, I can manage that without much difficulty and suspect that she will give me even better groups.

I use moly on the sear on the mating parts on the bottom of the bolt.  It can lessen the trigger pull by up to 50% right away and smooth it out too. It only gets even better as it wears in too.  If the sear mating faces are rough you can lightly stone them to smooth them out too then apply the moly.  You will be surprised at what a big change will happen in the trigger with just a small amount or work on it.  Using moly is like getting an expensive trigger job without the cost.

BTW; While your at it take your bolt apart and clean it and put some moly on the firing pin spring and the reset cam for the firing pin too.  It will smooth out the ease of the action of the bolt too when you cycle it too.

You could also go with softer firing pin spring too.

mountainview - I would first follow D_MANs advice to lube up the current trigger to see if that improves the pull but if not, the Timney triggers for the 98 Mausers are just what that 24/47 would take.  Also, Bold Triggers have 2 applications for the 98 Mausers - one with an internal safety and one that uses the current bolt safety the military Mausers come with.  I have had both but prefer the Bold Triggers.  HTH.  Mikey.

Thanks gents. I appreciate the advice and will give it a try. Am already considering an M48 as the next acquisition or maybe an Enfield or heck, maybe both.

No experience with the Timney's, but I've had good luck with the Bold triggers (I have them on 2 rifles, a Swede M96 and a Turk M38).  The actual trigger bow is plastic which I kinda dislike but function is good

Huber Concepts and Dayton Traister also make adjustable triggers for the Mauser that are metal and look nice.  No experience with these, but the Huber Concepts Ultra-Light in SS looks VERY nice.  I'm seriously considering picking one up for one of my guns.

And of course, you can always try modifying the existing trigger.  If worse comes to worse you'll mess it up and end up buying one of the above and you're out nothing.  If it works you avoid buying a replacement all together .  Nothing to lose, just make sure you test it for safety extensively before taking it out with live ammo.
