Thinking of Trigger Job

I have a Traditions Pursuit Pro.  Great gun, but a bit heavy on the trigger.  I've been told that you can put polishing compound on the hammer/sear-trigger and it will polish itself.

But...

I have found a good article on doing a trigger job on the NEF centerfire rifles... do the NEF ML triggers work the same way?

I've also heard that the Traditions trigger is very similar to the NEF trigger... anyone have experience?

LAST... if you have had a trigger job done by you or a smith... what did you do... who did you take it to?

I don't have the Traditions rifle, but I do have lots of NEF/H&Rs, if the trigger is similar in function and design, I'd try marrying the trigger parts as ML McPherson explains in his book, Accurizing the Factory Rifle, for work on the NEF Handi. Cock the hammer, push forward on the hammer with your thumb with approx 20lbs force and pull the trigger, repeat 20 times. Since it's not an H&R, the trigger parts may not stand the full 20lbs, donno, but perhaps it would be safer to use less force and see how it works. It would be a good idea to cushion the hammer strikes, too.

If that doesn't work, a tear down and honing of the trigger, hammer engagement surfaces and all friction points would be advised. Perklo has a detailed instruction for the Handi for download at his web site, www.perkloafm.com  There's also a less detailed instruction by Raynor in the NEF/H&R Centerfire forum FAQ and Help here at GBO.

That was the site that started me on this journey.  And as some point may be the only real resource for mastering this task

Thanks
