Has anyone shoot rem 405 grn soft pt campared to speer 405 grn soft pt in Marlin Cowboy? I will be pushing these at around 1750 to 1850 fps.

The only rounds I ever fired from my 45-70 that were 405gr Remington's and they were factory made.  I believe about 1330fps and talk about accurate that round is very accurate and doesn't kick at all.  If I  was shooting Cowboy I  sure would look at it.

I haven't fired them in a Marlin but in other .45-70s they seem interchangeable.  One note is that the Speer is softer than the Remington, but 1850 fps is high for both.  They may not give the penetration desired at this speed due to high expansion.  The site below shows how soft the 405s are fired into sand at well under 1400 fps on impact.
