Hello all,
I need some help. I have a Remington 700 standard barrel. I am loading 50 grain v-max with 36.1 gr varget. Ok hears my problem my gun is shooting 1" groups cold but when it warms up it's shooting around 1/4". Is this common? I always thought that  they shot worst once they got  hotter.

It is very common if by a "cold barrel" you mean one that has been cleaned and oiled and not shot since then.

Its all so shooting off when its had a few fouling rounds. If the barrel is cold (clean or not) groups are larger.

well its all right if I am going to shoot Pdogs all day but if I pick up the rifle to shoot a animal in my field with a cold barrel I get a little pissed off when I miss.
Thanks

When I shoot my Savage for groups it always shoots better after two rounds go down range.  I have made sure the barrel was clean and dry but it didn't matter.  I don't question it, I have kept track where the shots go and "Attempt"  to take that into account when I shoot at the first two doggies.
Be kind to animals.... cook them properly.
