Link to Cal. F&G Bear take Counter.
« on: October 26, 2006, 11:53:07 AM »
The link to California Black Bear take is    http://www.dfg.ca.gov/hunting/bear/harvest/index.html

The season will close after the F&G receives 1700 tags or December 31, 2006.  The take as of October 2, 2006 was 688.  Either hunting has been extremely slow or another example of the F&G being unable to fulfill their responsibilities to enter the data.

The deer season has closed in many California Zones.  Except for a few days hunters had shirtsleeve temperatures during the day.  And very little moisture, which made for poor hunting weather.

I did see a small bear track while deer hunting. Because it was on a traveled dirt road I would say it was less the 12-hours old.  In other areas the bear scat was rather old.

The count suddenly went up to 761.  Maybe F&G is reading our the bear caught it in the last 48 hours.

The take as of today is 920.  I suspect the wet weather in the Northern Counties has a lot to do with the increase take.

The number checked in as of yesterday 12/12/2006   1 4 9 3 .  That is out ahead of last years number. There have been 121 bears kill by cars in the Lake Tahoe Basin this year.  That is an amazing number considering most of the area is occupied by a lake.

I wonder if they have a breakdown of the take by district.
