Considering selling my 7mm-08 24" blue???PRICE????
« on: April 18, 2006, 09:54:55 AM »
:D Hi, I have been considering selling my 7m-08 barrel for my Encore, it is a 24" blued, bull barrel with no sights.  Only had 2-3 boxes of ammo shot through it and is a good barrel.  Only reason I am considering selling it is, I have found myself a SS Encore in the same caliber that I want to buy, and I plan to convert my blued frame to a pistol caliber at a later time.  I know you guys will know what a barrel like mine should be worth, and I thought I would check here for some advice before I list it on the Classifieds section and on E-bay.  I have been a member for some time now and I enjoy reading all your post, this is a great site and has addicted me as a T/C owner, now working on Frame number 3   soon to be (2) encores and (1) G2.  Ihope I can gather some solid advice from you guys.  What ya'll think?

When I list something on eBay, my practice is to make the starting price the lowest price I would be satisfied with getting.  In the case of items such as an Encore barrel, in many cases, the selling price will be significantly higher using this strategy than starting with such a high price that no one wants to bid on it.  I've seen many used things go on eBay for more than or close to what I could get them for new.

Having watched eBay for Encore barrels for some time (and having bought quite a few), I would say yours has a good chance of going for something over $200 if it is fairly unblemished (this is not what I would pay, however).  If I were auctioning it off, I would probably start the bidding around $135 with a $15 shipping charge but your starting price is entirely up to you and you take full responsibility for it.  Your best bet is to start your auction in the evening and have it end on Saturday or Sunday evening or better yet when there is a 3 day weekend because of a holiday.

The other auction site I watch is www.gunbroker.com which, in my opinion, would not be the best place for you to auction this barrel.

Make sure you describe your barrel correctly when you list it.  Is it really a straight "bull barrel" or the much more common heavy barrel?

Grumulkin, thanks for the tips on selling.  As for the barrel, I am certain that it is a bull barrel.  It is not Tapered, as I have other tapered barrels, and the end of the Barrel is the size of a 20Gauge shotshell, unlike my other barrels.  All in all this barrel is in excellent shape with only the marks left from the frame.  I will consider your suggestion before making my decision.  Thanks a bunch man :-D

If you put it on Ebay DO NOT list it on the GBO Classifieds. Make up your mind where you want to sell it and do so. If I find you listing it here and at ebay you'll no longer be allowed to use the GBO classifieds, that's been the rule here since day one of this site.

Thanks, Graybeard for the heads up on that.  I sure dont want any conflict with the forum.  I was just curious on what to do, everyone is always so helpful.  I love the classifieds section and sure don't want to get blocked.  I will decide which way to go and stick to it, no worries.
