Which One?
« on: March 26, 2003, 02:17:39 PM »
OK guys...would like to know which do you prefer in carbine configuration. A Contender or Encore. Since the single shot bug bit,I want to build a 221 Fireball.  Will order the barrel from Fox Ridge but not sure which frame to use. I presently have a Contender but been thinkin about an Encore. It will be a 24" sporter barrel mainly used for groundhogs.

Would like to hear some of your pros and cons.

    Thanks,

My buddy just picked up a Remington Classic in .221 Fireball. It is an accurate little round. When I work the bugs out of my .222 Contender Carbine I may spring for a .221 barrel. Sounds like a good wood chuck gun.

TimW,  I just got a Super-16 in .221 and can't wait til this week end to shoot it.  My HEAVY decision is whether to shoot it as pistol or carbine. I've had an original XP-100 in .221 for years and a 10" contender barrel, but haven't shoot either for a long time.  Going to try some Lil-Gun and 35gr V-max(gosh, thats a cute little bullet) in the new barrel. Think I,m going pistol first though(I know, I,m on the wrong page here).

I also have a Contender frame with no barrel. A buddy wanted to sell his 209X50 so I bought it. I really like the Encore now I've added a 22/250 barrel which is awesome......... and next I'm going to get the 12 gauge turkey barrel. Life don't get any better.
I'm hanging onto the Contender barrel but I will probably sell it and get another Encore barrel some day. 8)
