I was utterly taken with the Mil-surp virus after shooting my M24/47 (my first). I'm now looking to add some other bolt action Mil-surps since I still have a few open slots in the cabinet. However, the caveat is that I have to temper my enthusiasm on the account of my arthritis. Excessive or heavy pulls aggravate my condition but a trigger in the neighborhood of 3-4 lbs permits me to shoot with a reasonable degree of comfort. Besides the Mausers and Mauser-based actions, which rifles have "good" (i.e. adjustable down to 3-4 lbs) or reasonable selection of aftermarket triggers? I am looking at the Moisins and Enfields but am open to suggestions.

3 guns come to mind.

Yugo M48 or 24/47 all can get aftermarket triggers for lighter pull, and the stock ones are not too bad.

M1 Garand, easier recoil and triggers are a little better than yugo's.

30 Carbine.

all are available somewhat cheap and lots of ammo is avialiable and the triggers can be worked on by gunsmiths or replacements can be bought and dropped in for not too much cash.

Sweetest trigger on any of them is the Swiss K-31.
If you get a chance to try one you will be amazed.

Yep. K-31.
Timney makes triggers for most Mausers. I have a nice, light one in one of my Swedes.

I like the Swedes & Swisses. They may not have been to war but the barrels are really accurate and the triggers work good for me too.

The Swiss K-31 in 7.5x55mm comes to mind,as do the 96/38 Swedish Mausers in 6.5x55mm, as to the #4 Mk1 Brits in 303. My Yugo 48 A had a horrendous trigger until I 'fixed' her up. HTH. Mikey.

k31 Swiss and 96 Swede, I own some of each, accuracy that rivals new expensive rifles and very good triggers.

If your criteria is a light trigger pull there are aftermarket triggers for lots and lots of milsurp rifles.

So you could go from Russian MN, to Russian SKS, to Mauser, to Japanese Arisaka, to just about anything and get an aftermarket trigger.

My suggestions would be to figure out the rifle you really want, then figure out the parts you need to make it work for you.

New guy here, but my vote is also for a Swiss K-31 or an older model 1911 or 96/11.

OK, you wanted recommendations.

You absolutely have to own an SKS. In my father's generation the closet rifle for plinking was an M1 Carbine. Today it is the SKS. The ammo is inexpensive, the rifle is fun to shoot virtually no recoil and resonable accuracy at 100 yards.

A russian MN (your choice of flavors) is also way up there as something that has wide popularity.

The Swiss K-31 is very popular and quite accurate.

I personally have a think for Arisaka 99's, but they have really heavy triggers, but you can get an aftermarket trigger.

Thanks one and all for the advice proffered. I now have some good ideas for the next acquisition, well actually, the next couple of acquisitions. I somehow think it is pretty hard to have too many mil-surps in the cabinet and I do have a couple empty slots just crying out to be filled.

I'll second the K-31 recommendations. Mine has a great trigger and is by far my most accurate milsurp. The SMLE trigger feels the weirdest . Moves freely back and forth but if you pull it far enough/hard enough back the striker does fall. Good rifles besides that though.

No experience with it yet, but you might also look at the M-95 Steyr's that SOG has. I've been collecting a while and it's the first time I've seen them crop up.
