Have you called and spoken with Timney yet. I've always found them to be curteous but a bit difficult to reach. They are very knowledgeable and I can't believe they'd miss something that simple.. Keep us apprised of the outcome
No sir, with my luck this was on a Saturday of course, but I'll phone them Monday morning and let you know the outcome. I'm not near as ticked off today as I was yesterday. I had just finished pillar bedding the stock and in spite of myself, it turned out well and my groups really tightened up. I had previously adjusted my Howa trigger as per the Howa rep's instructions but it was still really bad so I was really looking forward to installing the Timney. However, I got my heart pumped up with nerve this morning, pulled off the Howa trigger assembly, dis-assembled it, removed and polished out the roughness in the right places, then found that a plastic box of my 44 Mag shells weighed exactly 2 pounds, 2 ounces on my wife's digital postage scales, then with the barreled action cocked and held vertically, it was easy to hang the box of 44 shells from the trigger, then back out the trigger pull screw until it dry fired (crude, but effective!). After rechecking the pull a few times and putting it back in the stock, I dry fired it about 15 times with sandbags and it's such an improvement I don't know if I really need the Timney now or not. I guess sometimes a guy gets lucky.
To Timney's credit, Howa has gone to a 3 position safety so maybe the later trigger housing groove to bolt hole demension has changed.
