Duckweed problem
« on: April 03, 2006, 12:36:45 PM »
I have 3 strip mine ponds on my property and two of them now get covered with duckweed every summer.  It floats and looks like algae, but it's a weed.  I've checked all the extension services, etc., but no one seems to have an answer.  Amur carp don't seem to eat it and I would have as much as $2,000 in chemicals each year if I went that route.  Then, I would have to use chemicals again each year.

If anyone has a way to get rid of this weed without my needing a second mortgage, please let me know.

I know a guy, a fellow Coyote Hunter who is a biologist and his business specializes in just this kind of problem. If you want i can ask him or put you in contact with him and maybe he can help you with some advice?
