What is the best medium to use to touch up some scratches and a premier grade gun? Thanks in advance.

Maroon scotchbrite pads. Go easy and in the direction of the original finish.

I have some maroon Scotchbrite pads and they are used for scrubbing floors. They are very, very coarse compared to, say, the green ones that are used in the kitchen. What are your maroon pads typically applied to?

One thing about Scotchbrite pads is that they are pretty good, but can really scratch steel in undesirable ways, so I'm always wary of them. That's why I ask for the clarification.

The only use I have for maroon Scotchbrite is for touching up the finish on my Premiere Grade Freedom Arms guns ... it is a brushed finish from the factory. Use them lightly and don't use on the cylinder face or the muzzle crown.

A quick e-mail to freedom@freedomarms.com should verify this; it has been a while but I believe it is what they recommend.

Just as Mark said, maroon scotchbrite, direction of orginal scratch. Something that helps also is to break down the scotchbrite first by rubbing it on some other metal surface the same as you would sand paper to break it down.

Boxhead, fancy meeting you here. I shouldn't be surprised though. It seems we have similar taste in revolvers.
