Stupid question number 3 but I honestly do not know.  A fellow asked me this the other day.  Can you shoot a .410 bird shot from a 45LC Ruger Vaquero?  Like.. have six snake shells in the revolver?

The main reason you can't is because the 410 shell is longer than the cylinder.  Some other guns can.

I load my own shot shells for 45 colt. I start with a standard 410 shell and cut it down to 45 colt case length and insert a Speer 44 cal shot cap and follow the loading chart for Speer 44 cal shot loads.

Where can I find the shot caps?  I did a search on them and came up empty.

....if you want to shoot .45LC and .410 gauge, go get a Super Comanche.  Not real expensive, shoots both, and is a great little snake killer....  also, good excuse to go get another gun.

Buy some marlin 444 brass and cut them off just under cylinder length.  Load with standard 410 loads or use rifle primer and test loads.  I use black powder, a wad, shot and another wad sealed with beeswax.

Guys, I know that this is a single action site, but Taurus has produced a double action 45LC revovler that shoots 410 shot shells and slugs interchangedly.  Just thought I'd mention it.

One anwser,, Magnum Resaerch BFR 45 colt/410/.. a great gun. It is a lot of fun to shoot clay pigeons with a revolver. The cylinder is very long to accomadate three inch shells. A big gun but woth the extra weight IMO, I love mine. I have the older dmax sidewinder. I also have a BFR in 45 /70. Fun,Fun.. They make a great product.
