Who are the Top World Oil Producers..??

It is interesting to note that the United States ranks 3rd in oil/crude production and exports much crude and oil related products.  Problem is our consumption is several times more than elsewhere with the European Union being major consumers as well.

This is very interesting.  But you also have to realise this information is four years old.  Things have really changed in the last four years.  Many more oil fields have been discovered in and off the coast of Alaska.  Our production has decreased till we are no longer number three, I heard the Presedent of BP state last week that the US is now seventh in the world. yet we are the largest consumer.  China and India are gaining fast, on consumption.

The President wants the car makers to increase the milage of all their cars.  To do that the cars will have to get smaller.  We've been there done that and the Americian public won't buy them.  Remember the Chevette, Vega, K-car, Pinto, Omni, and the Gremlin, and Pacer?  Up here in the land of ice and snow we have to have four wheel drive.  Mom's won't let their kids start out driving a small car either.  My wife insisted on our son starting out with a 4X4 pickup.  He wants a sports car, she said "NO!!!!!!!!!!".  So he's turning his pickup into a monster truck.  She is OK with that.

:roll: At the present time American production is down considerably.  The number of producing wells that were put out of service as a result of Katerina has a big impact on available crude, and the loss of refiners along the gulf coast plays a big part in current cost.  Supply and demand..

Have you lookd at the profits the major oil companys have shown the past two quarters?  To me, something smells. :(
