Opportunities to feed the hungry from a hunt?
« on: June 15, 2006, 03:57:12 AM »
Just wondering, since importing meat to the US would probably be unfeasible, and to appreciate the hospitality of these countries.

Are there opportunities for visiting hunters to donate their kills to feeding the hungry in Africa?

Some of the safari guides I have talked to said that they normally use some of the meat for that nights dinner, some goes to the employee's (tracker, cook, etc) family, and the rest to the village. I understand that they don't waste anything.

Same thing when I hunted in Russia.  A hunting club took the meat for, I suppose, their own use and that of family and friends.

When I've been there the camp took what they wanted then the rest was dried and sold in town. Meat/protein is a premium product over there
