Is Western still around?
« on: May 13, 2006, 10:42:43 AM »
I am having a hard time finding Western Knives in my area.  Somebody just told me that he believes Western folded a few years ago.

What's the story?

Western did indeed fold several years ago.  Camillus bought out the trademark and machinery, and last I checked still produces some of Western's more popular designs.

My most recent Nut Mission is to buy a Western Model W84.  I have one for over twenty years and use it regularly for hunting, and it is the 'go-to' knife for tough kitchen cutting.  But I have found that Western isn't around as much as before.   I guess I'll check the auction sites, unless someone here has one to surrender.
