So I'm sorry,,2" groups off hand at 50 yards with PRB all day with game getting loads, IMHO is better than overloading.
For the record, I test loads from the bench, because I'm not that good of an offhand shooter. I want to test the loads , not my shooting ability. Heck, shooting my scoped 22LR at 63 yds I'm not 100% on clay pigeons!
So from the bench, my best PRB load, in the 54, was 70 gr FFG, a .526 ball, and a 0.020 patch and three shots went into 1 5/8" at 40 yds. And this load was snug going down the bore. I shoot a PRB out of my 50 cal with 70 gr FFG and I will use it before this load in the 54 for deer hunting. both for the easier loading and better ballistics.
My goal for this 54 cal gun is not a target load, but a big game hunting load, meaning game bigger than deer.
Who sells the TC Pennsylvania ball-ett ? I see Maxi-Hunters and Maxi-Balls on the TC web site.
I don't have a problem with the lube on the Ball-ets. But I swab every other shot.
