Hondo Double Header
« on: May 22, 2006, 01:22:31 AM »
2:45 AM, Monday, 22 May 2006:
My son in law was on his first hog hunt with me.
A pair of hogs lined up, and the 250 grain Hornady round nose from a .35 Whelen hit the first one in the head, passed through, and took out
the second one also !
We have feeder lights, and the range was only 27 yards.
Small boar went about 80 pounds, the sow behind it about 150 pounds.
A great start for a new hunter.

CyberSniper:  Nicely Done!
0245 is about the time that the moon rose Saturday morning--I was out all night on my place east of Breckenridge and saw nothing but corn-hungry raccoons.  That Whelen ought to take care of about any pig you run across.  I had one in a Remington Classic that really liked 250 grain Partitions.  Question:  Feeder lights--what sort do you use?  I'm gonna have to come up with something besides moonlight...

This rifle is also the Remington Classic, made in either 1988 or 1989.
We use the light system from http://www.texasboars.com/
We also saw a few large raccoons last night.
My other "hog gun" is a Ruger #1 Tropical, caliber .458 Win Mag....hehe.
