Took her out to play today. This is the first time I have shot this gun. Just received it a week ago. And all I can say is wow.. It shot excelent. I am not new to 1911;s as I have owned many mid level springfields and an colt 1991. The AMT locks up tight and was shooting about three inch groups at twenty five yards. Off hand with WWB. A few flyers but not bad at all. put about 100 rounds thru it and only a coupl malfunctions. All on the last round. not fully chambered. Swapped mags with a friend and his 1911 did the same thing on the last round. So a couple new mags are in the mail.. Chip McMorcmic. Very happy . I did use a little lube on the slide. This stuff is designed for general anti sieze and a galling preventer for stainless piping. a semi thick paste. It is free from work.. a little goes a long way. It does stain you fingers though but washes off in four to six weeks. Just kidding.. all in all a great shooter, at least in this short unscientific test. I have a boat load of polmer guns and some big revolvers, and I mean big.. Just nice to feel that 1911 cycle in my hand again. a classic never goes out of style.

shot another one hundred rounds this weekend and the groups just keep getting better. Though she does not like to feed hollow points she runs great with ball. I am very impressed so far with this gun. I took all the negative comments in other forums with a grain of salt. so far so good. The new Chip McCormic mags took care of the last round feeding problem. I even ordered a few more. soda cans a twenty five yards barley stand a chance.

darrell8937, A couple years ago I found a brand new Hardballer at a gun show. I paid $400 for it. The owner said he trid to shoot it but it wouldn't go bang. He held on to it for several years then decided to send it back to AMT for repairs, only to find out AMT is out of business. The gun came new-in-box, with all papers.

When I got the gun home, I found the Millet rear sight had been cranked down so far that the hammer was hitting the sight and not the firing pin. A few clicks moved it up and the hammer would then hit the firing pin.

I have since done a trigger job and had to buy some new magazines. The AMT magazine was junk and didn't feed on the last round, just like yours. I bought a couple Wilson 8 round mags and they work perfect.

I have several Colts and a few other 1911s. The AMT will hold it's own with any of them. By the way, all AMT internal parts are Colt compatable except the proprietary trigger.

I really dont know if the mag that came with the gun was AMT or some other as there was not a mark identifing it. I guess whoever made it was not proud of it. I hope this gun continues to perform. I also got a great deal on a Dan Wesson that would often misfire. Simple spring replacement and she shoots great. I scopes it and can shoot quarter size groups or a rest.

I wish I had purchased a AMT Long Slide when I had the chance. They made great guns!
