Remington 722 scope bases and stock
« on: May 19, 2006, 03:56:23 AM »
I have an opportunity to obtain a Remington 722 in 222rem with an ultra heavy benchrest barrel.  Will 700 scope bases fit the 722? if not who makes scope bases for the 722?  Also the stock is very small for the size of barrel.  Where could I get a heavier stock for the 722?

I dont believe the base that fits a 700 will fit a 722. If Im wrong, someone please enlighten me asap.

Do a search on google for 722 bases.

I checked riflescopes.com where I get most of my gear and after checking Leupold and others, I didnt find any offerings in a 722 base. I skimmed kinda quick though, maybe one of the many other manufacturers offers them.

As far as stocks go for a 722, I know McMillan makes them for almost any model, try their website...

You might want to check out weaver bases.  I have Weaver bases on my 722.  I did a little search for stocks that fit the 722.  A plastic Remington 700 BDL stock can be modified to fit.  I looked close at short action BDL stocks at a gun show.  The price was right but I was buying other things that day.  A few years ago I refinshed my wood 722 stock and added a recoil pad.  I am happy with it.

Click on the link then select Remington.  It sure looks like the 700 base will fit the 722.
