love these Turkish Mausers !!!!
« on: March 31, 2003, 09:07:01 AM »
I had to buy another one!!!!!
there is only one blemish I have found on it.
A dent in the wood on the forearm about a quarter
inch square.  No dark bore either, it shines like a
new penny.  That is not the reason I bought it though!
I have never seen markings and proofmarks like the
ones on it before. It has the upside down Cresent with
Star Crest on the top of the Receiver like my other
Ankara produced rifle, But the similarities end there.
It also has a persons name stamped into the receiver
with the same type letters as my Ankara.
(Font I guess you would call it).
It looks like someone was exceptionally proud of their
handi-work and they signed it !!!  It is dated 1942 like
My Ankara, and the stock is extremely light in color
almost Blonde. The rear sight is slightly different also (shorter).
I Wonder if they had something like an "Officer's Model" or
something. This is one of the nicest surplus rifles I have seen,
an I beat BigBill to it !!!    :>)

Hey Hey Hey Sumner?? I still have my $39.95 8MM 1938 Turkish Mauser Very good condition and all cleaned up she sure looks pretty too. But I haven't shot her yet but she is all dressed up ready to go maybe soon I'll put some heat in the barrel. The long barrel on this puppy makes it one of my longest rifles(second) the 1907 French Berthier 8MM Lebel holds the first slot for being the longest rifle.  Your lucky I didn't see that baby for sure!!!! I wanted to buy a few after getting mine but I waited too long the price did go up then they were gone now there is only a few left here and there just harder to find now.  Plus I'm still working on my K98 8mm German mauser  I have the barrel in and the stock cleaned up and I just have to figure out what scope mount I heard that the weaver see thru scope mount gives it more room for the bolt so just a bent bolt may work. I have to order one next I just been to busy playing with the Hakim magazines.                           BigBill

I have noticed that they sell these rifles now $39 good to $59 very good condition now.
