Not Cannon-Mania
« on: May 19, 2006, 02:15:02 AM »
I was recently in the market for a 2.25” bore cannon. Cannon-Mania offers a half-scale Napoleon with a machined barrel that looked tempting. However I had waited many months to receive a 1/3rd scale cannon from Cannon Mania, and I tried repeatedly without success to reach the proprietor by phone to ask about the current wait time on the Napoleon. That prompted me to search elsewhere.

Missouri Cannon Works is the most recent addition to the list of manufacturers in the ”where to find BP cannons” sticky. I sent the owner, John Adams, an e-mail inquiry and within a couple of hours received a detailed reply. I had a lot of questions about the barrel as it was the first cast barrel I was considering. John patiently answered all of my questions, usually within a couple of hours, and I finally settled on his 2/3rd scale Model 1841 6 pounder.

Delivery time for the cannon is estimated at 6 weeks, which is probably 3 times faster than I could have expected from Cannon-Mania. John has kept me undated on the progress of the gun, sending me pictures of the just completed barrel:

It’s refreshing to deal with a responsive outfit like Missouri Cannon Works.

A prime example of what happens when the business becomes "more important" than the customers!
