Well o.k. it ain't really my first kill.
It's my first kill with my HK USP .45 acp!
I can't hit doodley squat with my single action Rugers or my double action Smiths but the USP fits me too a "T" and is awsome and deadly accurate.
I easily get 1" groups at 25 yards with Winchester white box and 3" at 50.
At 100 the groups open up a bit to around 4" but I figure it's running outa steam by then anyway.
For anything past 100 yards I'm thinking of installing a Leapers A.G. 6.5 X 32 with A.O. and sushade.
My first kill was a really ticked off groundhog.
Seems the critter took up residence under my back porch and dug along my foundation, then decided to eat every flower and shrub down to the ground!
I couldn't catch the munching marmont out of its hole to get a shot even though I set up a ladder stand in the back yard.
The critter never did climb that ladder.
Today he ate the last of my sunflowers and began nibbling on the metal of my swmming pool!
That was enough!
I stuck the garden hose down the critters hole and armed myself wtih the USP and a a Mossy 500 riot gun for back up.
The shottie wasn't necessary.
Said gopher came charging out'a his hole with teeth bared and claws raking the ground, like ta skeered me plumb to death but my 1st shot shoot took him right 'twixt the eyes at the unbelievable range of about 27 inches!
Hard to believe but that sucker got back up, teeth clicking and foaming at the mouth but another 185 grain +P Remington Saber h.p. ending the deadly confontation!
The gopher was pretty big but I got a chain wrapped around his leg and dragged him up on the pick up and dropped 'em off a the taxidermist.
Them thar gohers can be deadly cain't they?
The onliest aftermath of the horrible experience was when that 2nd .45 round exited the gopher and had enough remaining energy to poke a half inch hole at the ground level of my above ground pool.
T'aint no trouble to fix though. I figure h'it'll take about 2 weeks fer the 12,000 gallons of water to drain outa that hole then I can fix it with some duct tape.
