bobg,
I haven't shot my 25-35 for some time. I'm just getting ready to do this again.
I had a 30-30 barrel as well. The 30-30 had a roar and had a real bad recoil I thought.
The 25-35 on the other hand was more of a sharp straight back stinging recoil. Not intolerable just enough to let you know you had some real power there. I used only factory ammunition in the 25-35. Just now getting ready to relaod for it. Very anxious to try some cast bullets in it. Sorry I can't give you the answer you are probably looking for, but I would say I consider the 25-35 to be a real fun barrel. The 256 WM was just not enough fun I should also note. Just my personal thoughts.
