25-35
« on: March 26, 2003, 03:14:52 AM »
Hi folks,

Does anyone know how a 10" 25-35 would work in a Contender barrel?  I have an urge to get a 25 cal. barrel but don't know what to get. Ed has a 25-35 for sale and i thought maybe i would try it.

                     Thanks,
                        bobg :?

bobg,
I haven't shot my 25-35 for some time. I'm just getting ready to do this again.
I had a 30-30 barrel as well. The 30-30 had a roar and had a real bad recoil I thought.
The 25-35 on the other hand was more of a sharp straight back stinging recoil. Not intolerable just enough to let you know you had some real power there. I used only factory ammunition in the 25-35. Just now getting ready to relaod for it. Very anxious to try some cast bullets in it. Sorry I can't give you the answer you are probably looking for, but I would say I consider the 25-35 to be a real fun barrel. The 256 WM was just not enough fun I should also note. Just my personal thoughts.

PS Black Hill Shooters Supply has Win brass or at least did.

I was looking at the 25-20 and every one I talked to said that it was great but the .256 win was a little better and the 25-35 is even better, I think the case size is just right for a 10". For my part I say go for it! If you get it let me know how you like it, I have alot of .257 bullets laying around if you need them we can maybe work up a trade.
HANDCANON, BIGGER IS BETTER!!!

Well guys i think you told me just what i wanted to hear. Called Ed to order the barrel and he had already sold it. Seems like i'm always a day late or a dollar short. I'll keep looking.
