Some People Don't Listen
« on: August 07, 2005, 01:37:41 PM »
This morning I was fishing a small reservoir where power boats are not allowed.  Some non-residents(legal) showed up and started fishing from the bank(I was in my paddle boat).  The place is loaded with Bass and they were catching a number of fish, tossing them into 5 gallon buckets.  When I came ashore I noticed they had a number of Bass under the 12” limit.  I told them what the law was but they chose to ignore me.  I went back to fishing and about 45 minutes later a Sheriff’s Deputy showed up and started talking to different people.  Within 10 minutes one of California’s DFG Wardens arrived and ticketed the people for having 27 under size limit Bass.  Some people just don’t listen to good advice when given to them.  Lawdog

 Seen about the same thing happen here last year.  I pulled my boat in to a dock so my partner could get out and back the trailer in for loading.  While he was getting the truck/trailer I was talking to two guys fishing from the dock.  I watched as one of them caught a 8-10 inch bass, remove it and put it in an ice chest.  I asked if they knew the legal limit was 14 inches?  They said yes, but the game warden is not smart enough to catch us.  While we were getting the boat tied down and squared away for our trip home two Texas Parks and Wildlife Wardens pulled in.  They came over and checked me, then went out on the dock and checked the two guys with the cooler full of undersized fish.  Before leaving, I made it a point to walk over and tell the game wardens how please I was that they had gotten smarter.  Of course I had to explain which made it even harder on these guys.  When you observe the law, don't ya just love it to see someone like this get busted..............

Know what ya mean... A lot of the big lakes have size limits other than the published limits.. One of the lakes close to me had recently posted a size limit on catfish.. Its hard to miss all those yellow signs tacked to trees about every 100 yards around the lake. One fella that pulled up kind of close to our boat pulled in a little cat and promptly stuck it in his live well.
I reminded him about the size limit and was politly told it was the only fish he caught that evening and didnt care.. we went on fishing and when we pulled up to the dock to trailer the boat a little later the park rangers were checking everyone coming in off the lake... lets just say this fella had an attitude ajustment that cost him some$$$$  I was glad they got him and the scene got quite comical to us watching.

Speaking of $$$$, these guys are looking at some big bucks if the Judge is in a bad mood.  At $50.00 or more per fish(depends on the mood of the Judge), confiscation of their fishing gear and loss of fishing licenses for 5 years it could be an expensive lesson they learned(IF THEY LEARNED IT THAT IS).  Lawdog

Good to hear burn them good.  I see clowns like this all the time they clean the place out then complain there's no fish to catch.  One guy goes place to place cleaning out all the crappies/trout/bass and even 2" sunnies too.  Its time to preserve our sport or it will be gone by these greedy poachers.
