Finally Got A CZ52!
« on: April 09, 2006, 03:25:05 PM »
Picked it up at a show this weekend. $165 out the door with 2 mags cleaning rod and holster all in pristine shape. Also gave me 2 boxes of Czech surplus ammo. I shot it and it shoots very well no malfunctions other than one dud that went off the second try. It seem very accurate but hit low and left for me but I might just have to get used to it.
Thanx all

Biscuits, good find - especially at that price.  The word must be out because they are starting to dry up - now you need to find a steady source of ammunition for it.  Great little handguns......

Steady sources of ammo.....Wolf just started selling Gold Hollowpoints for 10 bucks a box @ 1500+fps, and Sellier&Belliot has had the ball ammo for about 10 bucks a box, and the S&B is nice new reloadable brass.  It is supposed to get over 1650 fps, but I think it is probably closer to 1600 fps.  The S&B is great stuff to stock up on, I have not tried the Wolf yet.  Re-loading is a great option too.  Accurate used to list a load nearly 1700 fps with Sierra 185 gr soft-points, but they have backed off of that load in the new 'Revised' manual.  The hoe loaded 185's worked just fine in my pistol, however....I normally use the S&B for plinking and I keep the hot loads for 'just in case'.  With softpoint loaded to 1700 fps....I can't even see any need to use hollow-points....one bullet does it all.  Great round.
....make it count

Well I just took it too the cinder pit this evening and after only a bit of drifting the rear sight and fileing down the front sight I got it shooting DEAD on @ 25yds . I am shooting better groups with it than I do with my revolvers(Ruger SPH 4 5/8" .44 and Freedom Arms 83 .454)! This is especially good since I have had about a thousand rounds through my .44 alone so far this year and I have on had 40 rounds through the CZ. Also I say I have it dead on @ 25yds well with this pistol that also means it is dead on at about 250yds! It is no big deal to hit a two foot rock at 200yds and I was not even trying hard and it was getting dark. It does have quite a bark and flash which is sweet. I love this thing! Now I need to practice and start hunting with it. The sage rats are just comin out! I belive I would be comfortable taking larger game with this weapon if the proper bullet is selected. Maybe antelope this fall. If you dont got one of these get one it will be the best money you ever spent. It is probably my favorite firearm ever. Now to buy some ammo in bulk. Any one have expirience with the 80's Romainian that Aim is selling?
Thanks all

I purchased some romanian 7,62x25 from AIM like two cases so far but i haven't shot any yet. It got recomemded as great shooting ammo on another forum its not like the yugo stuff.  I'd like to get more romanian before it runs out too. Someone did say to put in a new spring on the hammer with shooting military surplus ammo.

I really like my CZ52 as well - I havent shot it much but its a piece of history.

Everyone always comments on how ugly it is.  Once you own one the start growing on you though, I actually think is a fairly nice looking pistol.

Anyone have a pair of the Omega grips for these, they really make the gun stand out.

Here is a pic from their website:

Mine is a '53 in the black.....I got in when they were a flat $100, wish I had bought three or four at that price.

Bisquits - check on Ron Reed's Website for loads for the 7.62x25mm.  He has some great loads that should work very well on game with that cartridge.  HTH.  Mikey.
