I've killed a few with the Hornet. It does very well on them within calling ranges(0-100 yards).
Most people try to run the Hornet with the lightest bullets they can load, at the highest velocities possible. I also have tried light, and fast with it, but after years of experimenting, I've come to the conclusion that the Hornet shows it's best performance when loaded with bullets in the 45g-50g range.
I load Sierra 50g SMP's at around 2400-2500 fps, and this combo thumps coyotes pretty good. It nearly always exits, but rarely ever leaves a hole bigger than a nickel. It also drops bobcats with ease, and again, with small exit holes.
